Gift Baskets Donations

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As many of you know, this year we are planning to hold a special raffle of baskets put together from items donated by Shaughnessy families. The draw will be held at the end of the Craft Night on December 18.

We are  hoping that families will donate a small item that will fit the theme of the basket in your child’s classroom or one of the other baskets. This morning the following announcement was read to the school to remind students that we are still looking for donations:

Have you brought in a donation to the gift basket that your class is creating for our lucky draw?
Each student that brings in a contribution will have a special star of recognition placed on our Christmas tree in the front lobby.
Be sure to talk about yours ideas with your  teacher and classmates. Then talk about it with your parents before going shopping on the weekend.
How many stars will be placed on the tree on Monday morning?

If you would like more information about the baskets and themes, please click here.
Thank you!

Shaughnessy Public School Eco Team

Please read the following letter/request  from the Eco Team:

Hi Parents,

The Eco Team was hoping that there could be a representative from the parent community on our team.  Basically this person would communicate with parents on the school's initiatives as well as share ideas and thoughts from parents with the school.  Please let me know if you would be interested.

Yesterday we had a design consultation with TDSB Eco Schools.  We are trying to get more trees for our schoolyard and create an outdoor classroom seating area.  In order for us to get more trees we need to show that we are committed to taking care of them throughout the first three years by watering them all year long.  Throughout the school year the staff and students will make a schedule to water the plants weekly.  The issue is during the summertime. The trees would need to be watered once a week.  I am asking Shaughnessy families who can commit to watering the trees over the summer.  For example, if we get nine families then each family would only be responsible for watering the trees once in the summer.  If we are able to get trees, the trees would not be planted until the fall of 2014.  I know it seems far away but in order to apply for trees, we need to show that we are committed first.  Please let me know if you would be able to help out.  I can be reached at
carla.leonardo@tdsb.on.ca.  Thanks!

Hello Bakers and Lovers of Yummy Things!

Hello Bakers and Lovers of Yummy Things!

Just a reminder that the Bake Sale is this Friday May 10, 2013, at the end of the school day.

Please drop off your yummy donations in the staff room Friday morning.

Please do not bring any food that contains peanuts, tree nuts or seafood.
If possible, include a list of ingredients (for those with allergies to peruse).
Please mark the bottom of the
containers, plates, dishes, etc. that you
want returned with your child's name and class
room number. A piece of masking tape works
well.

If you can bake and you haven't already let us know, please email sps.chair@parentcouncil.info
