Dear Parents,

We are happy to report that, thanks to you, our QSP fundraiser was a great success! During our magazine campaign, students, families and friends bought 92 subscriptions and raised $1025.75!  100% of the proceeds will go to subsidizing your children’s school field trips; the school’s library; and  teacher and council initiated programmes to strengthen your children’s education, Thank you!

All QSP magazine purchases made throughout the school year will continue to benefit our school. Please order your magazines at www.qsp.ca and type in our group number 9517. (Please note that all purchases outside of the magazine campaign time frame do NOT qualify for student prizes.)

Haleh(Helen) Isakhani is our new Fundraising Co-Chair!
Haleh has a Medical background (Degree in Nursing & Master in Dental Technology), and she also has more than 5 years experience in the field of Administration and Fundraising. She recently graduated from the Admin/Fundraising program at Humber/ACES College and she works with the Fundraising and Event Coordinating teams at Bridgepoint. Her son is in grade five.

Volunteers needed for Toy Draw

Dear Parents and Caregivers:

Would you help us out for 1 hour before the Winter holidays?
Your parent council is in need of volunteers for our annual Toy Draw. There will be volunteers who will sell tickets in the morning, but we are in need of a few additional afternoon helpers to sell the tickets. Please fill in your name, email and phone number, and initial the date(s) that you can help, and then return this paper to the Kindergarten lock box in front of the school office. Or please hit reply and then insert your name, email (or phone number) and type your initials in the boxes that apply.

The pizza lunch program is one of the most successful fundraising initiatives at Shaughnessy PS with proceeds reinvested in the school for our kids. The kids love Pizza Lunch and the best part is you don’t have to make a lunch that day. Just send along a drink or refillable water container.

We have changed the lunch to ONLY include pizza slices:

1 slice of pizza (cheese or pepperoni) = $2 each

Additional slices = $2 each

The pizza meets the new healthier Ontario School Food and Beverage Policy standards

Remember, tomorrow is moustache spirit day!

New council

 Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to introduce your new - and with five out of six of us with a child in Junior Kindergarten - rejuvenated 2012-2013 volunteer parent council executives:

Katrina Reddick - Chair - Katrina has her Early Childhood Education degree and has worked in the field for 16 years. She has a son in Junior Kindergarten.

Anita Lamba - Vice Chair - Anita has been an educator for 16 years. Her daughter is in Junior Kindergarten. She also has a 2 year old son.

Marian Jedynak – Treasurer - Marian is the Manager of Administration at her current employment, she has a Diploma in Human Resources Management and she manages a small family business. Her youngest son is in Grade 1, and her older son is in Donview Middle school. Both boys are in the Shaughnessy Child Care program.

Lisa Dunn – Fundraising Chair -

Kristen McGuire – Secretary Chair - Kristin also has her Early Childhood Education degree and currently works as an ECE with kindergarten aged children. Her son is in fifth grade, her eldest daughter is in third grade and her youngest daughter is in Junior Kindergarten.

Tanya Wilcox – Communications Liaison -

We hope that all parents will actively participate in, or come and observe, council meetings and council activities.
